Over the weekend I headed over to the Cobblestone District to check out a new mural being applied to the side of 95 Perry Street. The art installation is well underway at this point, bringing a giant splash of color to the district (see history of mural). In fact, the mural is also noticeable from parts of the Old First Ward – it’s that dynamic in nature.
Another mural that is underway is found at the corner of South Park and Hamburg Street, just down the road from The Cobblestone District. The mural, being painted by artist Nicole Cherry, was commissioned by Bill Metzger, co-owner of McCarthy’s Pub and Brewery, and publisher of Brewing News (located directly across the street). Nicole told me that this was one of a couple of murals that she has planned to paint. The flowery mural seen in the photo acts as backdrop to a large garden, which also contributes to the vibrant nature of this corner.
