The Downtown Country Market is kicking off its 33rd annual season in Downtown Buffalo on Thursday, May 14, 2015.
The farmers’ market offers downtown workers a chance to load up on fresh, wholesome farm produce in a convenient setting along Main Street (between Court and Church Streets).
The market is accessible by Metro Rail for anyone who feels like hopping aboard in search of healthy fruits, veggies, baked goods, fresh lemonade, plants, flowers, etc.
According to Buffalo Place, “With over 50,000 office workers Downtown, a population of over 98,000 residents within a fifteen minute drive, and over 22,000 people traveling Downtown on the Metro Rail and buses daily, it is no surprise the Market serves nearly 15,000 workers, residents, visitors and tourists each week.”
New to the market this year is a Community Tent, where visitors can learn more about grassroots and community initiatives underway in Buffalo.
The market participates/supports in the following programs/initiatives:
- SNAP Program
- Double Up Food Bucks
- Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program
- Farmers’ Market Federation of New York
- Pride of New York Program
