On Sunday, May 31, 2015, InTune Festival is organizing Buffalo’s Largest Picnic at Delaware Park. The event organizers are encouraging people to show up with picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and everything else that they would normally bring to a picnic.
On that day there will be live music. The first set kicks off with Blue Stone Groove playing at 12pm. Food trucks are also being invited to this grassroots picnic festival. Already, the group’s Facebook page has attracted over 1000 people who say that they are interested in going.
Events like this are great, because they are organic in nature and utilize park grounds in the best way possible. Actually, I’m surprised that there are not more events of this nature that take place at the park. People like being around other people in a relaxed environment, and they like being entertained at the same time. Add a few Frisbees and hula hoops and it’s a recipe for a festive day.
I hope that the bands are able to set up on the pergola in the Rose Garden – it’s a natural stage that worked incredibly well when Olmsted once organized concerts at the park.
So bring a picnic basket and some friends, and be a part of Buffalo’s Largest Picnic (noon to 3pm).
