Wooden Cities, Buffalo’s New Music Collective that falls into the ear-opening genre of Contemporary Sonic Art, is slated to perform on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Albright-Knox. The free show is sponsored by Councilmember LoCurto, hosted by Young Audiences, and is part of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery’s M&T First Fridays @ The Gallery.
For anyone who is interested in a wide range of classical music, from the formations of celebrated traditional composers to the more contemporary experimental works, Wooden Cities has emerged as an an ever-changing ensemble and a collective of performers and composers that continues to open the minds of anyone willing to be absorbed into the delicate, intricate and highly evolved sounds that emanate from some of this city’s most accomplished musicians.
“It has been my pleasure to hear Wooden Cities performing a wide variety of contemporary music on numerous occasions. Having run my own new music ensemble for over 25 years, I understand the challenges of starting a group from scratch, developing and maintaining a solid artistic identity, and creating a niche for a unique musical product. I have the highest admiration for this ensemble.” – Jon Nelson, Pausa Art House and Professor, University at Buffalo Music Department
