One of Buffalo’s own is making some big waves in the music industry, and they’re planning on playing at Canisius College on May 1, 2015. The band, Made Violent, only recently landed a contract at Startime International/Columbia (Foster the People, French Kicks).
Though not seasoned professionals, the band – Joseph White (bass/vocals), Rob Romano (guitar) and Justin Acee (drums) – has been ultra focused on doing the only thing that matters to them during these inception years (the band is only a couple of years old) – writing, rehearsing and booking gigs.
On making his way into the band, the youngest member, White, who is still under the drinking age in New York, said of his bandmates, “One of them would buy me a Four Loko and I’d sit on a couch in their practice space and watch them play. Then I’d go to high school in the morning. I told them I was 19.”
Not only has the band been garnering fans as furiously as they can, they have also been gaining grounds with key media sites. Yahoo recently named the band one of the 25 Singer-Songwriters Under 25 to Watch. It’s no wonder, once you get down to listening to the band’s frenzied Stroke-like arrangements with belting vocals.
After listening to a few of the band’s songs (EP released on February 24) over the last half hour, it’s easy to see how they have mustered so much street cred so quickly. The name of the game is music production… and playing as often as they can at this point. It’s good to see that they are including Buffalo in their upcoming tour, in-between tour dates.
“We can’t wait to hop in our shitty van and drive across the country to play for anyone and everyone,” Romano quips. “Two things really matter to us – making as much good music as we can, and touring as much as we can. We never want to stop doing this.”
