Garden Walk Buffalo has issued its 2015 Marvin Lunenfeld Beautification Grants for 2015. Each year the Garden Walk committee selects a number of non-profits, block clubs, and neighborhood associations to benefit from the grants, which, this year, totaled $3600. The 11 groups that have been selected to receive the charitable donations are:
Ardmore Place Block Club
Armory Hill Neighborhood Assn.
Buffalo In Bloom, Niagara Square
Buffalo Shakespeare Garden
Cottage District Neighborhood Assn.
Fargo Estate Neighborhood Association, 220 Jersey Garden Project
Grant Ferry Association
Johnson Park
Ketchum Place Block Club
Sixteenth Street Alliance
WS Community Org
Each of these groups will use the money to beautify their respective blocks/neighborhoods, which will in turn make the areas in and along the Garden Walk more welcoming for visitors. Since 2005, the Garden Walk has donated over $69,000 to 90 gardens. In order to be eligible for the grants, groups must be able to procure matching funds or volunteer ample sweat equity towards beautification projects.
This year the Garden Walk will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Over 400 gardens will be featured, making this the biggest Garden Walk in the US.
