Go Bless Reverend Drew Ludwig.
Drew and devote crew of Western New York Christians are out on a mission, delivering upwards of 500 cupcakes to Allentown gay bars, as a response to Indiana’s controversial Religious Freedom Law. Instead of sitting around, watching most of the country get up in arms over the issue, a plan was hatched to deliver the cakes to the LGBTQ community, inspired by the Indiana cake store that has refused to take orders for gay weddings.
“Supporters of the law seemed to imply that it was somehow a violation of our Christian faith to bake cakes for gay people,” said the event organizer, Drew Ludwig. “That could not be more untrue. Jesus never hesitated to serve people that had been rejected by others, and neither do we.”
Through social media, Ludwig enlisted the help of numerous Christians who offered to get involved with the offering, purchasing, picking up and delivering the symbolic treats.
“We decided that the best way to demonstrate our religious freedom was to put it into action. Christians are free to bless people–all people–without precondition.”
The cupcakes will be delivered to the gay bars in Allentown starting at 10pm tonight.
“This isn’t about having an argument, or even inviting people to church. We’re just going to pass out cake,” said Ludwig. “Christianity is about providing service, not denying it.”
