Way to go Ulrich’s 1868 Tavern for making USA Today’s list of America’s Oldest Pubs (‘Travel’ section). Thankfully Ulrich’s was reopened just in time to make the list – there was a time that the pub’s future was a bit precarious. It was developer Tom Eoannou who bought the place, and restaurateur Salvatore G. Buscaglia who lovingly restoring the pub, that now shines as a historic beacon for all of Buffalo.
We ate at Ulrich’s a few weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised to see an updated menu that features everything from a duo of giant soft pretzels (one filled with cheese) to a trio of delicious sausages (each one in its own taste bracket).
We tried a little bit of everything that we could muster, and even decided that the restaurant’s new dining room addition is where we like to sit in the wintertime due to the amount of natural light that floods the room.
If you’re looking for some of the oldest taverns and pubs to visit in your travels around the US, be sure to start with the local experience fondly known as Ulrich’s. You will be happy with the historic nature of the pub, along a few pleasant twists on some culinary favorites (both old and new).
