I’m so happy to see an event of this nature launching at Silo City. The Buffalo Paddle-Bike-Run incorporates three of the activities that we love to do along the waterfront. Up until this point, we have seen a lot of runs, a good number of bike races, and a few paddle-oriented competitions, but nothing that combines the three.
On Sunday, July 26 2015, athletes will have a chance to participate in an event that incorporates both land and water. Athletes of all abilities can learn more about the event by checking out this website, or they can following the event on Facebook.
Race director Justin W. Dahl has participated in The Tough Mudder, The Finn McCool, and marathons. He’s also a tour guide for Buffalo Harbor Kayak. That was one of the reasons that he chose to create a triathlon that includes kayaking (one of his personal favorites and strengths). Silo City and the Buffalo River turned out to be the perfect place to create such a multi-faceted event.
The race features two different courses, which allows a number of different abilities to participate. Partial proceeds of the race benefits Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper.

Hopefully we will see more and more of these types of races that challenge participants in various ways. There are plenty of venues to launch from, as well as a base of growing amenities that support these types of initiatives.
