One of Buffalo most prized music collectives, a jazz band by the name of Grüvology, will be heading out on its first European tour. In order to make certain that the band has all that it needs to successfully embark upon this uplifting tour, as ambassadors of the Buffalo music scene, they will need additional resources to ensure that their trip is smooth sailing the whole way through.
As we are all aware, musicians often times play for the love of music (not necessarily the money), and even the thought of paying the expenses for a European tour can seem daunting. That’s why Jon Nelson from Pausa Art House has offered to host a special star studded live music review this Saturday, so that Grüvology can sock away a few bucks to alleviate their travel expenses.
“The local jazz group Grüvology is making its first tour to Europe in early April, hitting Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland,” Jon told me. “They are doing this without an agent or manager, which is a royal undertaking. I used to book all of my group’s tours, so I have a soft spot for these guys and the whole undertaking. While in Europe, they will be acting as ambassadors for the lively creative music scene we have in Buffalo. I can imagine their audiences wondering what’s in the water here when they hear Grüvology’s mix of jazz, Gospel, and street.
“On Saturday, March 28, we are hosting a marathon concert event which will be a fundraiser to help the band defer tour expenses. Admission is $15. We’ll have complimentary food at the bar, and an all start lineup of musicians who will join forces to play and support the effort. Performers will include Bobby Jones, Bobby Militello, George Caldwell, Carina & the 6 String Preacher, Rishon Odel, John Radice, Dave Philips, Michael McNeill, Ed Chilungu, Toney Rhodes and Grüvology. Concert starts at 7pm – doors at 6pm.”
