Tuesday rolled around, and wine lovers from across the city couldn’t wait to give a warm welcome to Paradise Wine on its first day of business.
I first wrote about Paradise Wine back in January when the store was still under construction. With the internal fit-up underway in the sawdust filled shop, the ownership team of Paula Paradise and Lauren Kostek were still busy making myriad decisions on everything from fixtures to product mix. Hard to believe less than two months later, a shiny new store beckons visitors into its bright, comfortable, contemporary surroundings. The large, airy store is flush with a variety of organic and biodiverse wines, handpicked by Paula who is known as one of the area’s celebrated wine connoisseurs (well more celebrity, really). An unexpected surprise is the addition of micro-distillery spirits and organic ciders to the mix….even organic ice wines. The sheer breadth of product variety makes browsing the store’s shelves a rewarding experience. What makes Paradise different is that you won’t find many of these products stocked anywhere else by the larger wine retailers. Paula is doing her best to keep the customer experience a very personal one, making herself available to assist customers with advice on every visit.
With Lauren and Paula busy conducting their first wine tasting on sparkling wines Tuesday, and welcoming visitors warmly with broad smiles, the store is off to a colorful start. To help celebrate this milestone event, Paradise is offering discounts every day, listed either on the Paradise Wine Facebook page or Twitter account (@paradisewino). Congratulations to the Five Points area on their newest addition, and to another pair of local entrepreneurs realizing their dream.
Paradise Wine is located in the “Five Points” area at 435 Rhode Island Street.
