When we stop to think about HarborCenter, the Canisius College hockey program is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. However, the new ice is providing a coveted college amenity that few could have ever imagined.
US College Hockey Online (USCHO) has an informative feature that provides an insider’s perspective on what it’s like for the college players to call the sports complex “home”.
Not only has HarborCenter brought the entire team together, the joint effort between Canisius and Pegula raises the bar for college hockey in Buffalo. It was interesting to read about the player response when a new arena was scrapped on the Canisius campus in lieu of combining efforts at Canalside. I remember feeling a tinge of disappointment myself when I learned that the corner of Ferry and Main would remain unsightly, with the elevated, sprawling blue barrier wall.
In the end, it’s hard not to see the communal benefits that are being reaped by the partnership. Click here to see the article posted in USCHO.
