When it’s cold outside we can either do one of two things. Run away from it, or run towards it. In true ice-bound fashion, professional climber Will Gadd decided to do the latter. When he learned that Niagara Falls had partially frozen over, the climber decided to do the unthinkable. He gather together his gear, traveled to The Falls, and set out on a mission to scale the icy face of the formerly flowing behemoth.
The daring ice climbing maneuver was captured and promoted by a number of media and brand outlets including Red Bull and USA Today, and over the course of the last month the story continues to gain traction. If you haven’t seen the USA Today video (produced and sponsored by Red Bull) yet, then be sure to check it out below.
Gadd, who has been climbing for 30 years, states that the climb was the pinnacle of his career. It was also the first time that the icy face of The Falls had ever been climbed.
