Have you always thought in the back of your mind that you would like to get involved with programming at Canalside? Do you have that lingering idea that you know would add a wonderful and unique aspect to the ongoing activities found at the Inner Harbor?
Whether it’s the Central Wharf, Historic Ruins, Aud Block (historically-aligned canals) or the East Canal, there are plenty of places to create your vision. But first you need to submit your idea to Canalside for consideration.
Right now, Canalside is looking fill its year round programming schedule in order to fully activate the 21 acre site. In order to do that, people are asked to submit their daily, weekly, semi-monthly or monthly programming ideas. Maybe you have an idea for live music, tours, rides, theater, or public art?
Before getting started, you should know that there are a few key factors that Canalside is looking for when it comes to successful programming:
- Target families and children
- Incorporate health, fitness and wellness
- Tell the “Story of Buffalo” (it’s history, especially related to the Erie Canal and waterfront)
- Feature Western New York culture (including music, dance, visual art, theater, ethnic cultural heritage and tours)
2015 is going to be a great summer at the waterfront. Be sure to submit your ideas as soon as possible, in order to get your foot in the door.
