Like anything else, there is an art to making the best kielbasa in the land. For generations, professionals and home cooks have been passing down their business and family recipes, and now it’s time to show off the delicious results in Buffalo’s Best Kielbasa Contest. The event takes place on Dyngus Day (of course), with contestants lining up to pit their best kielbasa recipes against the other greats in Buffalo.
At this time, applications can be filled out to enter the contest, with three categories being considered – wholesale, commercial, homemade. The contest is based on both organized judging and “People’s Choice”. If you feel that your sausage recipe is a ringer for one of these categories, then join your hosts, The Broadway Market and the Adam Mickiewicz Library and Dramatic Circle (Mickey’s), on April 6, 2015 at 12pm for some fun-lovin’, flavorful, competitive feasting (and drinking).
Fillmore District Council Member David A. Franczyk is hoping to rally the best kielbasa makers around, to compete at the event, which takes place at The Broadway Market.
Fans of the market, Dyngus Day, kielbasa and Polish beers will gather to taste test the results and declare the winners. On that day, the market will be setting up a Polish Beer Bar, where people will be able to sample a number of ethnic brews. Come to think of it, shouldn’t there be a permanent Polish Beer Bar at the market?
