91.3 WBNY is Buffalo’s best indie radio station. The station is run by Buffalo State students, who are essentially the pulse of local music. That’s why, when it comes to the best Buffalo bands, WBNY is the ideal station that has the ability to run a well regarded “Battle of the Bands” competition.
At this point, WBNY is scouting for local bands to enter the competition, which will pit six “finalist” bands against each other on April 25, 2015 (doors at 7pm, music at 8pm – each band performs for 20 minutes). The event is open to the public – $5 at the door.
In order to enter your band into the “Battle of the Bands”, featuring a final battle at Iron Works, bands are invited to send their digital submissions (all original music, no covers) to wbnylocalmusicdirector@gmail.com. Each band can only submit three songs, so choose wisely. Submissions will be accepted through April 25, 2015*.
The panel of judges includes:
Entertainment Editor at The Public: Cory Perla
Music Critic at The Buffalo News: Jeff Miers
Marty Boratin: Promoter at Mohawk place
Once the six bands are chosen to compete at Iron Works, they will be narrowed down to three, that will be rewarded with the following:
First place – Five hours studio time at Good Charamel Records and a $70 gift certificate to Allentown Music.
Second place – Screen Printing Services from Positive Approach, which include 15 basic shirts, one color front standard sized print only, a $125 value, and a $50 gift certificate + t shirts from Spiral Scratch.
Third Place – Photography session with Photography By Nico and a $50 gift certificate to Black Dots.
*CDs can be sent directly to the station: 3100 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo NY 14222 – Clearly print “Battle of The Bands Submission” on the envelope.
