I am an ex-South Buffalonian living in Northern Virginia who went by what is now Larkinville every day during High School in the late 60’s – so it has strong memories.
Obviously the Larkin Administration building was already demolished by then, but my mom grew up on Swan/Seneca Street and remembers the building fondly. My thought is to start getting out into the public conscience the following (and these are my opinions):
If/when the new stadium gets built in downtown Buffalo, near Pegulaville, it will be located not far from Larkinville. The facade (or some portion of it) should incorporate some design elements of the Larkin Building and FLW concepts in general. How cool would that be – to have this structure take into account such a unique and historical element of our history while also demonstrating the new “Buffalo”?
The stadium design should incorporate FLW building concepts. It does not necessarily have to “look” like the Larkin Building
*”General consensus says that the FLW Administration Building will never be rebuilt. That said, take a look at the images of the building and you will see that it somewhat resembles a grand entranceway to something such as a stadium. If/when the stadium actually is built (and it looks likely at this point), shouldn’t it pay its respects to the grandeur of this city? Most stadiums tend to look the same. This would be a great opportunity to stand out from the crowd.” – Queenseyes
