JPHii DESIGN has become one of the most well-known and cutting-edge jewelry design companies here in Buffalo. But owner and executive designer John Harris has long held interest in other forms of art and design.
John Harris, along with local industrial musician Razbaque Dirge, have composed the music for one of the most unique shows to hit the stage in WNY. Based on Harris’ book The True Survivors, written in 2012, the Science of Ca’Dio is the story of life, love, tragedy, and the lengths that people are willing to go to get it back. Harris describes the unique nature of the show as “a performance within a performance. The actors are playing actors in the city of Ca’Dio, the first human stronghold after the apocalypse. Those actors are playing the characters telling the story.”
The show was written with the lead character, Sho’han, specifically designed for actor Sean Sanders. Sanders is currently appearing in the upcoming film “Frankenstein’s Patchwork Monster” by director Emil Novak, but Sanders has been playing Sho’han since the debut performance back in 2012.
On January 27 and 29, Harris is looking for actors to play the other characters in the show by holding open casting calls at Ashker’s Juice Bar at 1002 Elmwood Ave in Buffalo. “I’m excited to see what Buffalo has to offer. I’ve seen so many great performances and shows across WNY, and I think we’re in store for something incredible,” Harris stated about the casting calls.
There are 9 potential openings for the show, with a 10th being filled by Sanders returning to his role in The Science of Ca’Dio at Mad Science Theater at The Forvm on March 15. The show will feature and incredible soundtrack and accompanied by a larger-than-life light show by D2 Lighting and Sound.
