A Fairmont Creamery-like storage building on Main Street will have a mixed-use future under plans by 1665 Main Street Group, LLC, a partnership that includes Sinatra & Company Real Estate.
The development team has the Allied Household Storage Building at 1665 Main Street under contract with a mix of residential and commercial space planned.
The six-story, 88,500 sq.ft. building is currently owned by KBH Properties LLC and is one of the few mid-rise buildings along Main Street north of the Medical Campus.
“We are planning on 60 apartments with a large presence of commercial/retail on the ground floor with new windows/glass and glazing,” says Matt Connors, Sinatra’s vice president of development.
“This newly formed partnership is aiming to bridge a gap on that stretch of Main Street to connect Canisius and the BNMC increasing the walkability in that area,” he says.
Sinatra & Company Real Estate has invested heavily in the city with many of its projects along or near Main Street.
1665 Main Street is just north of Sinatra’s Fenton Village project. There, Sinatra purchased the historic Fenton Hotel on W. Ferry Street and substantially renovated the building’s 23 apartments. Work on the second Fenton Village project at the corner of Main and W. Ferry Streets consisting of eight upscale lofts and retail space is nearly complete. Renovation of a smaller structure at 1524 Main Street will round out that project.
Closer to downtown, a Sinatra-led partnership will being redevelopment of the Phoenix Brewing Building at 835 Washington Street into 30 lofts and commercial space. Sinatra recently moved its corporate offices into the Market Arcade complex which it purchased from the City, bought an apartment building at Tupper and Franklin streets, and is finishing up renovation work at the Wayne and Waldorf Apartments at 1106-1110 Main Street.
Work on the Allied Storage project is expected to begin next year.
