There is a new quaint/rustic store on Hertel Avenue called The Painted House. Inside is an amalgam of restored and painted furniture (decor that is for sale), that serves to accentuate the featured household accessories. For Hertel, this is a nice addition because when to comes to new household items, the street is a bit lacking due to the overwhelming number of antique shops. At the same time, the thoughtfully restored furniture (in line with many of the other shops), helps to give customers helpful design ideas long the way.
Picking out one holiday gift at The Painted House was no easy task. The shop is filled with all sorts of sundries, from pillows to glassware to candles (one candle line is even handcrafted in Buffalo).
It was only when I came across the wine racks made from upcycled wine barrels that I knew I had found the perfect gift for today’s BRO selection ($80). Store owner Jennifer Kovach agreed that it was an unusual and striking piece. She even pointed out that once the rack appears full, a few more bottles can be stacked on top. It’s an impressive and functional accent piece that would look great in just about any kitchen that has enough space to display it correctly. If this wine rack is larger than what you are looking for, there are some other racks that take up less space, and a few that cleverly hang on the wall.
Stop into The Painted House over the holidays and see the wide array of gift selections. The store is fully stocked, even after being slammed during this past Friday’s uber successful Hertel Holidays event.
