7-Eleven stores today delivered 3,204 pizzas to the Food Bank of Western New York (WNY) as a result of the company’s “Pay-it-Forward” with Pizza campaign. Via the “Pay-it-Forward” effort, customers of 87 area 7-Eleven stores were able to purchase pizzas for $5.55 to donate to the Food Bank.
7-Eleven stores in the Buffalo area celebrated today’s pizza delivery by joining the Food Bank of WNY and the Seneca Babcock Community Center, in Buffalo to throw a giant after-school pizza party at the Community Center’s 1168 Seneca St. address. Some 70 youngsters enjoyed piping hot pizza, plus fruit juice, bottled water, potato chips and fresh fruit served up by a team of local 7-Eleven field consultants, managers and sales associates.
The local 7-Eleven stores were among 300 stores across a four-state area that took part in the pre-Thanksgiving donation drive from Nov. 24-26. Food banks in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia received a whopping 13,354 pizzas through the campaign, which was aimed at providing meals to needy families and individuals served by the various food banks.
“We are partnering with the food bank and community center because they are well- respected organizations, doing important work in the community,” said Patricia McGee, field consultant, 7-Eleven. “Our stores want to be a part of the solution to end hunger and to provide food for those who need a helping hand. We especially thank all of our customers and suppliers who did so much to make this campaign successful.”
This marks the third time this year 7-Eleven has donated pizzas to the Food Bank of WNY, resulting in a total of 6,868 pizzas going to youth programs in Erie County, as well as program partners in Niagara, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties.
Marylou Borowiak, president and CEO, Food Bank of Western New York, said the Food Bank is thankful for its continuing relationship with 7-Eleven.
“We are extremely grateful to 7-Eleven and its customers for the generous donation,
and the local 7-Eleven team for staging this wonderful pizza party. When you see the smiling faces on these kids; you know you’ve made a difference,” Borowiak said.
