PUSH Buffalo has conditional Planning Board approval to add a third floor to 417 Massachusetts Avenue, home to the WASH Project at the Westside Value Laundromat. The building, owned by Aloudi Mansour, previously had a third floor but was removed after a fire some time ago (historic photo below courtesy of WASH Project). Architect Charles Gordon and Kevin Connors/eco_logic STUDIO have designed a modern interpretation of the previously bay-windowed building.
The new third floor will add four apartments to the building for a total of nine units. The laundry will also be expanded as part of the renovation plan. The boxed windows need Public Works approval for encroachment over the City right-of-way.
The WASH Project is an arts, literacy and resources-based mini community center that functions out of the Burmese refugee-owned laundromat on Buffalo’s West Side. The WASH Project has become a neighborhood gathering spot.
