For the second year in a row, Her Story Boutique will be hosting the annual “Shoptober” Bra Crawl in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Bra Crawl allows artists and designers in the community to come up with beautifully designed bras that are then hung in the storefront windows of Elmwood Avenue businesses. Bra Crawl is designed to spotlight the need for additional resources when combatting the scourge of great cancer. The disease has affected countless women in our community, and this event is a way shine a light on their stories in a clever and artistic way.
The month of October is dedicated to Bra Crawl. During the month, bra crawlers will be able to vote for their favorite bras. On October 23, 2014, participating stores will donate 15% of their sales (from 5-9pm) to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Co-creator of the event and co-owner of Her Story Boutique, Susan Morreale, is a breast cancer survivor. Through her efforts, along with her daughter/business partner Ciara Morreale, the two have managed to attract over 40 businesses to participate in the cause. Some of those businesses are restaurants that will be serving up pink cocktails. Others, like Lloyd Taco truck will be stationed (and donating to the cause) in front of Her Story Boutique.
This is an excellent opportunity for us to show unity in the Elmwood village, while supporting a great organization,” says Ms. Morreale, “with a night of local shopping, fashion, food, and giving back: our Elmwood community standing strong!”
