Now that Buffalo’s skyline features a giant six pack of Labatt Blue cans, I suppose that it’s only appropriate that Labatt Blue cans now feature the Buffalo skyline. When Labatt moved its American headquarters to Buffalo, the Blue bottles and cans boasted a small notation that the beer had a Buffalo tie. Now that tie is loud and clear, as seen on these cans. I was handed a 16-ouncer just this weekend and immediately commented on the new addition to the label (which also brandishes the Sabres’ logo).
Labatt is definitely feeling the Buffalo pride these days. As locally crafted beers continue to make headway into this market, Labatt is the only big league brew to claim and brandish hometown pride. With the Labatt Pond Hockey tournament, the silo six pack, and now the homage paid on its labeling, I would venture to say that Blue is feeling mighty comfortable in Buffalo, and it’s hard not to notice.
