Ok, so we all love the Elmwood Village. What’s not to love? There’s a new building going up across from Panera Bread. The Lexington Co-op is being remodeled. Saigon Café is moving into a long vacant storefront. There is a super low vacancy rate on the street. And the Elmwood Village Association is celebrating its 20-year anniversary with a big block party this weekend (see here).
That said, what do you want to see happen in the Elmwood Village in years to come. More restaurants? More clothing? More chains? More events? Road races… festivals… buskers… way-finding signage… parking… beat cops… cross walks… traffic calming… public art… lighting… design standards…?
It’s a great time to celebrate the Elmwood Village, but any street can always be better. How do we make Elmwood better? What is missing? What is working? How do places like Elmwood compete with the malls?
From The Elmwood Village Association:
