Hydraulic Hearth (HH) is gearing up for its opening in the Larkin District. Besides conducting staff interviews, restaurateur Harry Zemsky has been publishing a series of informative updates that explores his philosophy of food and drink.
HH will be specializing in brick oven NY style pizza, craft brewing and “beer cocktails”. “My favorite mix of beer and booze is something we’re calling The Swan Dive,” says Zemsky in his blog. “The Swan Dive is named in honor of the building’s past as a dive bar that other dive bars aspire to be (I recently met a former paramedic who said of The Swan, ”Yeah, we got called there a lot.”). It will be an ever-changing choice between one excellent beer with a cheap shot of booze, or an excellent shot paired with a cheap beer.”
Aside from beer cocktails, HH will also be featuring craft beers brews that will be brewed at a “satellite Community Beer Works brewery”. Beers will be brewed fresh and served at the bar and at the beer garden (now under construction).
Visitors to the HH will find a number of entertaining aspects aside from drinks and food, ranging from giant Jenga games, a food truck dock on the patio and (drum roll please)… shuffleboard courts!
It sounds as if the HH has all of the necessary ingredients to draw pizza and beer aficionados from across the region to partake in the intoxicating offerings. Below is a sample of the menu that was recently posted…
