It’s time to celebrate the change in the seasons… Now that we are officially into the month of September, there’s no reason that the city celebrations should slow down. Rather, Allentown is busy ramping up its First Fridays, starting on September 5th with a parade, art, music and a bunch of other festivities.
According to the committee members, there’s a lot to look forward to , including street performances by Sugar Paper, “presenting Wandering Papier- mâché personas created by Buffalo native, Berlin based performance artist Kyla Kegler.” No parade would be complete without an appearance by the 12/8 Path Band, a roaming band of street musicians that bring the city to life with horns, drums and colorful dancing.
Visit the galleries and shops and restaurants. Partake in the spirit of the parade. Come hear the poets and the singers, and join in the revelry. Allen street will be closed for cars from Pearl to Virginia Place in order to dedicate the street to the arts.
