Want to see what’s left of the Bethlehem Steel plant? Since it’s prohibited to do it in person, the next best thing is to take a quadcopter ride. Along with some nice editing and some appropriately creepy/etherial music, we now have a bird’s eye view of a part of Buffalo that not many people get to see these days.
In the video, one thing is for sure – the former steel plant occupies so much of our waterfront that it’s almost impossible to wrap your head around the impact that it has on our region. You can either look at it as a huge opportunity in the future, or an insurmountable barrier in the short term. Either way you look at it, this video will open your eyes to the possibilities that lay ahead, and those that have already been squandered.
As an aside, a friend of mine was recently out at this site and showed me a video of a seaplane launching from one of the channels. She said that it had all of the telltale signs of a government plane. Others have told stories about wild dogs laying claim to the land. I’ve seen some pretty peculiar things out there myself – pools of emerald water so clear that you can barely tell there is any water at all. Something right out of a science fiction novel…
