Recently, James and his Ice Creamcycle dudes have been on a mission to take their ice cream carts on the road to places where they have never been. These excursions include schools and hospitals where they bring their ice cream carts to kids who otherwise would never get a chance to track down the sometimes elusive rolling operation.
It was community activist Julie Padak who first asked James if he had ever thought about pulling up to Children’s Hospital, going inside, and pedaling up and down the halls. “Buffalo, and the Buffalove of its residents never ceases to amaze me,” said Julie. “I sent James an email to see if there was some way to collect funds and to send James and his crew into Children’s Hospital and hand a frosty summer treat to ALL of the kiddos stuck inside during this beautiful summer weather.
“First off, James could not have been more excited to help – he emailed back immediately. He then got on the phone, got permission from Children’s Hospital administration, and on August 13th beginning at 2:00 p.m., he and his crew will be riding up and down the halls of Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo bringing a little taste of summer to kiddos, their families AND the staff.
“Buffalove at its finest, a great local business stepping up to the plate, no questions asked, to help put smiles on the faces of some kids who hopefully next summer, will be outside, enjoying everything that Buffalo has to offer… and eating ice cream while they do it!”
