I bet that you didn’t know that Buffalo has a traveling puppet wagon show. Puppeteer, storyteller, spiritual historian*, artist, set designer, and all around creative guy, Franklin LaVoie, has spent much of his summer traveling from farmers market to festival, with his puppet wagon in tow. Not only does Franklin create all of his owns puppets, he also designs and orchestrates the shows from soup to nuts.
On Saturday, August 2, 2014, bring the entire family over to the Bidwell Farmers market to catch Franklin, his puppets, and the mystical wagon as they offer up a show spectacular – Songs of the Erie Canal Puppet Show, and Stories of Buffalo Puppet Show. The show starts at 11:00am. Guests can expect to see a number of short vignettes, performed in a way that only Franklin can pull off. Each performance incorporates music, old fashioned frolicking fun, and a whole lot of imagination.
On the docket for tomorrow: Songs of the Erie Canal Puppet Show and Stories of Buffalo Puppet Show… and MAYBE a sneak peek at The Academy of Fruits and Veggies Puppet Show (premiering at WNY VegFest on Sunday at noon. Learn more about VegFest by clicking here.
