If you’ve been anywhere near the Outer Harbor this summer, then you have probably witnessed the incredible number of beautiful kites being flown each weekend. along with an attempt to bring a yearly kite festival to the waterfront, there are a number of avid flyers who set up their kites for the pure fun and enjoyment (see images). The waterfront is an incredible place to fly kites, mainly due to the winds off the lake, the open space, and few obstacles (such as power lines).
On Friday, July 25, 2014, Tifft Nature Preserve and Buffalo Harbor State Park will be collaborating on an event called “Sky’s the Limit”. The family friendly event will feature a full day of “flying” related activities, from kite making and flying with the Great Lakes Kitefliers Society to tethered hot air balloon rides with the Aurora Balloon Company.
