Sabres’ owner Terry Pegula is said to have submitted the highest preliminary bid to purchase the Buffalo Bills from the estate of Ralph Wilson Jr. He is competing against at least two other bidders: a consortium of Toronto-based interests fronted by Jon Bon Jovi and another by Donald Trump. If completed, the reported $1.3 billion purchase price offered by Pegula would set an NFL record, topping the $1.1 billion sale price of the Miami Dolphins in 2008.
In a curious development, HUNT Commercial’s Clarke Thrasher and Peter Hunt recently and exclusively represented Pegula Sports & Entertainment in their short-term lease of office space at One Seneca Tower (formerly known as One HSBC Center). Pegula Sports & Entertainment leased 17,348 sq.ft. of the 850,000 sq.ft., 40-story iconic downtown office building which is nearly vacant and in receivership.
The PS&E leased space comprises almost the entire 31st floor which was last occupied by the Canadian Consulate and vacated by them in August 2013.
No word if Pegula is interested in buying the signature property to add to his growing south Main Street holdings.
