Buffalo band The Tins have released a new CD, along with a music video that is worth a listen and a watch. The song “They Aren’t Evil” on the EP Young Blame is polished, jumpy and catchy and oh so indie.
Right off the bat “They Aren’t Evil” is memorable. By the time I listened to it the second time around, it felt as if I had heard it numerous times. Maybe that’s because I have listened to my fair share of indie music… but mostly because the musicians did their job to pull it all together as a tight and melodious piece. You can tell that the band had a lot of fun with this one. In fact, as I write this I’m having a hard time getting the song out of my head. Not to mention the different video snippets that feature people chopping things up with a meat cleaver, along with fish manipulation, cactus biting, and face lathering. Plenty of antics to go around.
After listening to all four songs on the EP, each song is able to pull the listener in different directions. The captivating vocals act as the glue, as the melodies shift in various directions. The EP coincides with the recent announcement of the band’s first national tour. Look for these guys heading to a city near you. Way to represent Buffalo guys!
The four song EP will be available on July 29, 2014. You can pre-order the Young Blame EP here.
