One of Buffalo’s most prolific photographers, Jim Bush, has ventured into the realm of video, and much like his talents with the camera, Jim has managed to come out of the gate running with his video skills. His most recent video project caught my eye for a few reasons. First, it was produced and shot inside the new Richmond Ferry Church for the Performing Arts. Through a surreal video I was able to check out the interior of the beautiful building for the first time. Second, I found the production to be frightening, electrifying, fascinating, and totally mesmerizing. I couldn’t take my eyes off of the production, combined with the music and the camera angles… it’s not everyday that we are able to see such an unusual performance that is orchestrated so well by the camera lens.
You can almost hear the director saying, “Play with the space!”… and play they did. See here for yourself…
“A few months ago Rachel Heckl gave me a tour of the Richmond Ferry Church and told me of her vision for the future of the space,” said Jim. “As we walked through the empty structure, I could feel the presence of those who have been there before and the creative energy of what was to come. “be mused” is a reflection of the church’s magnificent architecture and a glimpse of what the future holds as the Richmond Ferry Church as it transforms into a visual and performing arts center.”
Produced by Rachel Heckl, directed by Nancy Hughes, featuring music by Daniel Kolb and performed by the Buffalo Contact Improv Jam Performance Group: Nancy Hughes, Scott Matthew Slocum, Gretta Sowyrda, Ashley Vita Verde, Phil Wackerfuss and Aaron Water. Original sountdrack by Daniel Kolb
