One of Elmwood Avenue’s most underutilized and forlorn corners may be on its way to getting a major facelift. Rumor is that a new restaurant development is scheduled to replace the Elmwood/Delavan Food Mart and gas station. It is said that the former owner of Oliver’s, Henry Gorino, is working with Ellicott Development who is purchasing the corner and will be leasing the retail space to the restaurateur.
This sort of development would do wonders for Elmwood in general if it comes to fruition. An upscale restaurant, in a new building would help to bridge the street by adding curb appeal and density. Over the past couple of years, this entire corner has been steadily improving, with Eye Care & Vision Associates’ renovation, the addition of Bike or Bar and the Elmwood Village Inn, and there might even be hope for the plan Jane facade of the Great Wall Chinese restaurant down the road.
