Vinyl collectors, it’s time to rally around the record. On April 19, 2014 (National Record Store Day), a local establishment and music venue is doing what it can to celebrate the return of musical soul into what can appear to be a soul-less culture. On that day, Milkie’s (on Elmwood Avenue) will be paying homage to album art and record trades with themed open format DJ sets from 4pm-9pm. So, if you are planning on hitting up all of the local record stores during the day, why not stop by and celebrate your record purchases and the industry’s victory with others of the same ilk?
Update: Slick Tom of 97ROCK will be joining CVC to spin a set at the event.

For this day, independent labels, as well as industry labels, release limited edition pressings of new or re-mastered music. Independent record stores celebrate by throwing a party to highlight the individual culture of their store. It’s no secret that Buffalo has a deeply rooted and multifaceted music scene with a local love for music that keeps independent record stores like Spiral Scratch, Record Theatre, Black Dots, and Record Barron open and hungry for new ears to share in the real bliss that is vinyl record collecting. – Milkie’s
