Billed as Buffalo’s only professional art auction, CEPA Gallery’s 12th Biennial Art Auction is a heart pounding show stopper that positions the public eye in an arena designed to create a sharp and focused affair. Held in the spectacular setting of the Market Arcade – a building that is perfectly suited for such an extravaganza, the auction sets the stage for fun, fashion and formidable artwork created by some of the best in the business. For 40 years CEPA (Center for Exploratory and Perceptual Arts) has been celebrating contemporary photo-related art in Buffalo.
This year CEPA is adding a bit of a twist to the showmanship by adding additional media to the affair. From now until the event (Saturday, April 26), visitors are welcome to view the artwork for free, whenever Flux and Passageway Galleries are open. Works may also be viewed at www.cepagallery.org. This will give bidders the opportunity to prepare for the action that will be delivered by auctioneer Sotheby’s Senior V.P./Photographs Department, Christopher Mahoney (received his Master of Arts and Humanities degree from the University at Buffalo, and participated in CEPA photography classes as a child).
“All attendees at the CEPA Auction are guaranteed to have a wonderful time; we’ll feature a wonderful buffet table, delicious and refreshing cocktails, and a hugely impressive roster of artists’ works on the block,” said Jana Eisenberg, CEPA volunteer and VIP concierge. “For those who would like to go just a bit further, and join us as a member of the Rogovin Circle, your VIP ticket will garner concierge service throughout the event–drinks and food brought to you in your reserved seat perhaps? Or, anonymity if you prefer it…”
