Buffalo observer from afar, Torontonian Lorne Opler, has passed along an item of interest that was recently published in The Atlantic Cities that discusses Rochester’s long lost subway. Long lost what? Rochester had a subway? Yup. It was built in 1927 and abandoned in 1956. Of course the demise of the transit line is attributed to urban sprawl. Today city officials are wondering what to do with the relic, if anything. This is an interesting article, that points out to us what could have become of Buffalo’s Metro Rail, and thankfully did not. See article.
