Fundraising for the third annual “City of Night” event has begun with another amazing event presented by Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo (ELAB), Le Cirque de la Lune. The event, described as an “art circus,” will take place on Saturday March 15th, also this month’s full moon and the ominous “Ides of March.”
The event will also help fundraise for their soon-to-be art library.
The ornate Dnipro Ukranian Cultural Center will be transformed into a circus that Saturday evening. Spread out over the two floors of the Dnipro Ukrainian Cultural Center patrons will be able to enjoy two dance floors, open photo booths, participatory art installations, live model sketching, local bands, burlesque, drag and fire dancing.
In the name of the circus theme there will also be tents along the dance floor edges with fortune tellers, jesters, freak shows and acrobatic performances.
Some of the performers include the band DRTY Couture, described as a blend of bohemian soul, burlesque rock and cabaret funk, DJ Soma, and performances by Stripteasers Burlesque, in addition to many more.
2013’s “City of Night” welcomed over 12,000 attendees who saw immersive art installations, live music and performances, food trucks… and we even got a sneak peak at Silo City Rocks rock-climbing space inside the grain elevators. The event is partially funded by a grant from the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation and administered though Arts Services Initiative of WNY.
Tickets are $10 in advance here, and $15 at the door.
