SolRise Farm and Cultural Arts Center has become a cultural anchor of sorts on the city’s East Side. Located in what might be considered a rather unusual venue for such an institution, SolRise has set out to capture the grassroots spirit of art in myriad form.
Whether the group is hosting Acroclass (followed by Acrojam), or a yoga session (with brunch), this type of inclusionary cultural center has a strong spiritual focus that continues to make a positive imprint on the minds of everyone who comes into contact with the performers. It might not be the biggest, or the flashiest, or the most talked about, but in certain circles SolRise is making waves as a free-thinking, free wheeling performance center.
On Friday, March 21at 8:30pm, SolRise will be hosting Coexisdance, an improvisational music and dance event that has featured (in past performances members of Lehrerdance (Phil Wackerfuss), Anne Burnidge Dance (Nancy Hughes, April Biggs), BCIJPG (Ashley Vita Verde, Aaron Water) and Verve (Jimmy ‘Rook’ Hawkins) dance studio. With roots in Toronto, Coexisdance has managed to make the rounds in Buffalo before winding up at SolRise – the perfect fit for a rather nomadic bunch.
Join the dancers, and musicians for an unforgettable artistic collaboration at SolRise. Past musicians include Kelly Cornelius (Moss of Ancients), Jason Pfaff, Scott Slocum (Buffalo Philharmonic Choir), Janece Gerber, Gentleman John Fitgibbon, Bob Sowyrda, Janice Mitchell, Jeannine Giffear, Liz Widzinski, Kevin Cain, Patrick Cain, Scantron, David Butler, Griffin Brady…
