With the advent of food trucks came a new breed of freewheeling chefs, not just locally but across the nation. As the popularity of food trucks grew, it was only a matter of time before reality TV got into the act. Today you can flip on the tube and catch the adventures of amateur chefs as they battle against each other to win cash, prizes and even their own trucks.
The Food Network is currently in the process of casting for an upcoming reality series called Food Truck Face Off, where amateur contestants are pitted against each other for the chance to win a one-year lease on a food truck (hopefully enough time to establish the truck in the Buffalo market). Not only would the one-year lease of the truck be a good start, the exposure for the winner would be priceless (not to mention the experience from the competition). One winning team (teams of two, so pick a capable partner) is spun off of each episode of the show, which means that there are a number of heated battles and winners.
The spin of this show is that the contestants are required to be rookies – food truck owners and workers need not apply. Home chefs who have dreamed of operating their own food truck are encouraged to attend the casting in Niagara Falls (Canada): March 1st, 2014. The Food Network crew is hoping that there are contestants who show up from Buffalo… and ultimately the winner would be servicing their hometown community. C’mon Buffalo foodies… this is an international showdown, so let’s show ’em what you got!
