Even though I’m not a vegan, I do support the lifestyle. So when a group rallies together to promote eating healthy and leading a animal cruelty-free way of life, then by all means I feel that I should share the information. I do this partially because I understand what it can be like to forage for healthier, animal free foods, and partially because I believe that the stronger the vegan community is in Buffalo, the better off the city is for it.
We all know how easy it is to find a chicken wing in Buffalo. Or even a great hamburger (just yesterday I directed a friend to Sterling Tavern for a burger, even though I don’t even eat them myself). To live a vegan way of life is more demanding (and more thoughtful) than being a carnivore. I say this because vegans need to think about everything they put into their bodies – it’s not a free for all when it comes to eating at restaurants and shopping at markets.
Today I learned about a new Facebook group dedicated to the vegan way of life. To me, this is another important step in sharing ideas, food sources, recipes, and learning about others in the community who are trying to make it easier to… well… be a vegan. The site also discusses clothing and accessories sources with similar ethics. From local restaurants that cater to vegans, to market tips at Wegmans to finding vegan items on food trucks, Vegan Buffalo is a handy resource for anyone who wants to learn about the culture and share their own findings.

If you’re still not catching what they’re growing, then check out the following BuzzFeed video and you just might empathize with the veggie community more than you do now…
