Another Charter School is on the rise in Buffalo, and proponents of the school are presently hosting a series of town hall meetings to discuss an unusual approach to learning, as well as collect feedback from the community. Designed around an inquiry-based model, with emphasis on questioning and exploration, research and analysis, the proposed Charter School of Inquiry (CSI) would launch with 150 children in grades Kindergarten through two, and within five years would more than double in student population and reach grade six.
The location of the school has not yet been identified, though a number of sites are being considered. A planned opening for September 2015 means that the school, “dedicated to active problem solvers rather than passive learners”, needs to ramp up the finalities in order to proceed with brick and mortar plans.
Those looking for a school built from the “bottom up” instead of the “top down”, and willing to give input that could ultimately be part of the application process to New York State for a formal Charter, are welcome to attend any or all of the following public meetings.
