How are you going to get fit in 2014? AcroYoga? Hula hooping? Belly dancing? Pole dancing? Or maybe something completely different?
Have you ever considered getting fit through breakdancing? Actually, some of the most in-shape people that you will ever meet are breakdancers. Not to say that you’d be preparing yourself to hit the breakdancing circuit after a few workouts… that’s not the intention anyways. Some of the best B-boys and B-girls in Buffalo have decided to offer the urban dance technique as a way for others to get in shape. It turns out that even the simplest of breakdancing moves can help to get your body strengthened, toned and conditioned far better than many other traditional forms of exercise.
Founder of Verve Dance Studio, Shane Depree Fry, has created a customized exercise class called “Rock Your Body” that is sure to get your heart pumping, your blood flowing, and your muscles flexing in ways that are both fun and invigorating. “Our vision has always been to make B-boying and Hip Hop accessible to a wide variety of people, and ‘Rock Your Body’ is another way to do that,” says Heather Russell, Fry’s partner and cofounder of Verve. “Not only that, but it’s also a fun way for adults to meet their fitness goals without heading to the overcrowded gyms at this time of year.”
To get the most out of cardio, strength training, and core work, considering signing up for the upcoming class at the Verve Dace Studio located right in Allentown. The next session begins January 6, 2014 and is open to ages 16 and up. The class is being billed as “a novel approach to fitness through the movements of break dancing.”
