A few days ago Giovanni Centurione pointed out a number of shopping stops in Downtown Buffalo that we may or may not have been aware of (see here). I thought that that was an excellent idea, because for now there is no central cluster of shops downtown, and navigating from store to store is not as simple as, say, shopping on Elmwood and Hertel.
South Buffalo could be considered to be a similar shopping scenario as downtown. While there are a number of shops and restaurants to support, there is no centralized shopping corridor or hub to walk in search of clusters of holiday-centric businesses. Thankfully, South Buffalo CREW has come up with a holiday shopping event that helps people to search out the different stores and restaurants that are hoping to raise awareness of some of the hidden treasures in South Buffalo. “South Buffalo CREW (see Facebook) is helping to host a “Shop South Buffalo” event Friday December 13th from 5-9PM,” said Casey Smigelski. “There will be carolers singing Irish holiday songs, a free holiday trolley, and a wide variety of discounts at local businesses.”
The event is simply called Shop South Buffalo (see Facebook). Below you will find additional details:
*The event kicks-off at the Irish Center (245 Abbott Road) on Friday, December 13 at 5:00pm. All participating businesses will be offering discounts/promotions from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. Walk from shop to shop or hop on the free trolley (sponsored by Councilmember Scanlon) that will be circulating the event route throughout the night. Join friends and family for a post-event gathering at the Brick Oven Bistro for your chance to be entered into a drawing for a special prize. The winner of “Best Decorated Storefront” will also be announced.
