For seven years skating, Sabres’ goalie Ryan Miller and The Steadfast Foundation have been adding to the Buffalo party and event scene, while raising needed funds for local pediatric cancer patients in conjunction with Carly’s Club at Roswell Park. Each year the organization hosts a Catwalk for Charity, which, incredible as it may seem, has raised $1,000,000 since its inception in 2007. The charitable event is touted as a star-studded affair that draws guests in search of a number of different delights that include food from some of Buffalo’s most reputable restaurants, knock-out visuals, a stellar catwalk, along with Sabres players who will be donning masquerade masks.
Yes, this year’s event incorporates a masquerade twist, which means that guests will be treated with an element of the unknown. Honorary chaircouple for the event are Kevin LoVullo (host of Spiel the Wine, a weekly program on WGRZ-TV) and his wife Jackie (owner of Zenjoy handmade whimsical wreaths). Entertainment includes live music by Les Femmes de Nik and The Heritage, a live auction, open bar and food, and a VIP red carpet hosted by E! Chief News Correspondent and Buffalo native Ken Baker.
In the spirit of this year’s Cirque du Sabres theme, attendees are asked to “join the circus” by wearing masquerade attire that ranges from freak to formal. And remember, this event is intended to raise money for Roswell Park’s youngest patients’ emotional and social needs, which is the best excuse to get out and party for a great cause.
