One of the city’s most prolific dinner spots is venturing into new terrain. Oliver’s Restaurant has decided to expand its offerings to include lunch.
Oliver’s, a longstanding after dark dining establishment, will begin offering lunch service on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM beginning on October 2, 2013. According to owner David Schutte, “Although Oliver’s has not served lunch for nearly a decade, our guests have continued to request that we bring it back and we are very excited to meet that demand. Chef Lewandowski has created an outstanding seasonal menu that I am sure will please our existing, and we hope, our new patrons.”
I often think about all of the dinner spots that don’t serve lunch… that should. And vice versa. I can see Oliver’s lunches being a welcome addition to the daytime dining scene in the city, especially for anyone who loves great food served in deco surroundings.
There are plenty of high profile places that are closed during the day, and only come to life at night. Depending on the neighborhood, you can see why a business might choose to do one or another. Regardless, a restaurant such as Oliver’s, that opts to expand its offerings, is certainly a solid move and welcome decision by its new owner/operator. According to a recent release, Oliver’s’ “Chef Lennon has developed a seasonal menu that will include salads, soups, pasta, specialty sandwiches, seafood and vegetarian options. Initial menu items include Sweet Shrimp and Tomato Risotto, Chicken Cutlet Milanese, Chilled Maine Lobster Salad, Cajun Spiced Turkey Baguette and Buffalo’s Best Burger.”
