A team of local developers is launching a fantasy sports platform based right here in Buffalo. Hashtag Buffalo LLC is hoping that www.poundff.com proves competitive in the fastest growing segment of fantasy sports, the no-league daily. The team, consisting of developers Rich Panek and Chris Dasaro, marketing chief Matt Sabuda, VC expert Nick Campinelle, and co-founder of Bills Mafia Del Reid Beta tested their platform in Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Green Bay throughout the preseason.
“We were thrilled with the response during preseason, despite the challenge of getting users to pick rosters for games that don’t count. With hundreds of users and over 10,000 page views, we’re excited to grow the platform in the regular season.” Says Sabuda.
This unique platform is open to anyone, requires no signup or commitment encouraging users to play as much or as little as you want. “This is the next wave of fantasy sports and with Buffalo being such a great sports city, we felt this was the perfect place to be based.” adds Sabuda. “In addition to Green Bay and Pittsburgh, we just added Seattle and Indianapolis with enthusiastic collaborations in those cities.”
In addition to the integration of social media, one of the new aspects that PoundFF is bringing to fantasy football is the introduction of the challenge board. Know a friend or that person on twitter who just thinks they know everything about football, make them prove it. You can invite as many people as you’d like, create pretty much whatever stakes you can come up with, and the challenge invite will be sent right to their social media or email. So if someone’s got a dirty car in need of washing, make that loudmouth who’s always wrong wash it by challenging them.
Challenge games include weekly fantasy or pick 6 lineups.
According to Sabuda “Social media and fantasy sports represent two of the fastest growing segments of the tech industry. If our preseason response was any indication, we hope PoundFF will be a growing business asset for Buffalo.”
