The Valero gas station and mini mart at 233 S. Elmwood Avenue is no more. The site was cleared over recent days by property owner Uniland Development Company. Unlike other ‘shovel-ready’ sites downtown, this one isn’t expected to be vacant for long. Uniland is reportedly planning a mixed-use project for the property that fronts Chippewa Street between Delaware and S. Elmwood avenues.
Last September, Uniland paid $2.95 million for the circa-1917 Delaware Court Building at 234 Delaware Avenue, a two-story curved façade building with 54,612 sq.ft. of space and surface parking lot. At the same time it also purchased the gas station property for $50,000. The combined parcels are approximately two-acres in size.
