Buffalo is Pie Mad!

1000261_518148941592234_582805388_nNow here’s a local success story that we can really sin our teeth into… Buffalo is going pie crazy!

We all know how much we rally around our homegrown success stores, right? Well, one success story that almost never came to be is our very own English Pie Company (now under the umbrella of Humble Pie Group). The business recently launched an initiative called Pie Mad (see website) that has made its way into local Tops supermarkets. On top of that, owners Damian and Vicky Parker have been developing a series of concepts that will see their pies infiltrate cities across America. “We love Buffalo, and we’re utilizing as many other local businesses as possible,” said Vicky. “We cook using local products and meats, our packaging designs and boxes are created right here in the greater Buffalo area, and locally owned and operated shipping companies take our products from our loading docks to the store. We are proud to say we are helping to revitalize South Buffalo and the region.”

Tops Markets initial order that was just delivered, consisted of over 12,500 pies!

With the help of Tops Markets, Pie Mad has suddenly received a significant boost in sales that will help the pie company’s owners take their concept even further into the marketplace. “Thanks to the phenomenal efforts of our lead broker, Brian Gausik with JOH food distributors, Tops Markets is the first to carry the Pie Mad product placing 5 of our Pie Mad flavors on its shelves. Terrific support by a Buffalo giant for a Buffalo startup,” stated Vicky. “Pie Mad’s pies are low in sodium and contain no MSG, trans fats, artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. The pies are made in unique microwave safe trays and held in convenient grab and go boxes, making a quick meal that is easy to consume for busy folk to enjoy in a flash. Of course they can always be popped in the oven for an easy dinner as well.”

Pie Mad has over one hundred sweet and savory flavors ready to bring to market…

Buffalo is the frontrunner when it comes to the perfect local custom Pie Mad flavor:

The Buffalonian: a delicious spicy chicken filled pie made especially for the local pallet and sure to be celebrated by wing lovers everywhere.

Then there’s a line-up of other Pie Mad flavors ready to be dedicated to other markets, including:

The Philly Cheese Steak: featuring hand trimmed steak and gravy with white cheddar cheese.

The Cheesehead: filled to the brim with real Wisconsin cheese and flavorful onion

The Paddy’s Irish Pie: filled a combo of meat, potato, and gravy that makes any day St. Patty’s

The Columbus: celebrating the discovery of America with savory chicken and a vegetable medley sailing in a delicious cheesy sauce and finished off with a sprinkling of cracked pepper.

The all American lines of pies that are being created in Buffalo take old-world pie traditions and marry them with updated flavor profiles. That’s the kind of product that we are happy to see hit the marketplace – made in Buffalo with an All-American twist.

This:  “We cook using local products and meats, our packaging designs and boxes are created right here in the greater Buffalo area, and locally owned and operated shipping companies take our products from our loading docks to the store. We are proud to say we are helping to revitalize South Buffalo and the region.”

Yes!

@UncleMonty

Even better in some ways than remaining a local-only business selling through Tops/etc, their website says they intend to export pies to across the U.S.

"Pie Mad products will soon be found all across the US."

Buy-local people in other cities might not like the idea of any residents in those places buying products of a nonlocal (to them) Buffalo-based co…  but hopefully that won't be much of an obstacle.
